Certified protection and security forces are the skilled workers in the industry. They work in demanding areas of object and factory security, in nuclear facilities or as managers in private security companies. You can also work in the internal factory security units of the automotive or chemical industry, take on guard and security tasks at Deutsche Bahn or as an employee in the public sector.
If you want to become a certified protection and security force, you can no longer be a beginner.
Admission to the GSSK exam:
- Minimum age of 24 years
- A first aid course that must not have been more than 2 years old on the date of the exam
- Completed vocational training and 2 years of experience as a security guard
Anyone who has not completed vocational training may also register for the examination after 5 years of professional experience if at least 3 years of this professional experience have been worked as a security guard.
Area of action 1 – Legal and task-related action.
- Public law, civil law, criminal law and criminal procedure law, labor law, data protection law, works constitution law, weapons law.

- Areas of activity in the security industry, acting in special situations (emergencies, bomb threats, terrorist attacks, etc.), principles of personal security, registration and reporting.
Area of action 2 – averting danger and using protection and safety technology
- Fire safety and emergency response
- Principles of preventive and defensive fire protection, checking and monitoring of fire protection equipment and fire protection regulations, alarm tasks, clearance and evacuation, help to avert danger.
- Occupational, environmental and health protection
- Participation in occupational health and safety, participation in environmental protection, basic knowledge of hazard classes, labeling of hazardous substances.
- Use of protection and safety technology
- Use of technical resources, structural, mechanical and electronic safety devices, means of communication and documentation, extinguishing agents and fire extinguishers, fire extinguishing systems.
Action area 3 - Security and service-oriented behavior and actions
- Situation assessment and management
- Basics of human behavior, recognizing the effect of oneself, influencing the behavior of others, conflict prevention and de-escalation.
- Possibilities of communication, forms of communication and means, situation-related communication.
- Customer and service orientation
- Requirements for a quality-oriented security service, connections between security and service concepts.
- Cooperation in teams and with external forces, accomplishing tasks through communication and cooperation, teamwork and leadership.
